A large number of data breaches have been making headlines lately. You know how it goes – News coverage and media grill the company, everyone involved gets upset (rightly so), and the company does their best to make amends. What we don’t hear about very often, however, is what happens to the compromised data following a breach. You know your personal and business data is valuable to you, but what if we told you it is even more valuable in the hands of cybercriminals. Here’s a breakdown of the value of breached data:

Currently, the cyber black market is worth more than even the illegal drug trade. Stolen data is becoming more valuable in the hands of cybercriminals, and the methods they use are evolving and becoming more efficient. Cyberattacks are costly to everyone involved – companies, executives and customers – and it is more important than ever for companies to be taking the necessary steps to protect their data.
