Now in its 11th year, Secure360 Twin Cities is better than ever! This year’s conference theme is a play on the game of chess—improving business, increasing knowledge and building strategies to protect your greatest assets. Once again, we’ve packed two days (and one day of pre-conference activities) full of great speakers, industry vendors and plenty of networking opportunities.
Here are 7 reasons to attend Secure360 Twin Cities in 2016:
1. Pregame at the Secure360 pre-conference
Wish you could get more than just two days of great information and cyber security content? Each year, Secure360 offers pre-conference sessions for in-depth learning experiences. This year’s pre-conference include:
- Closing the Gap: Information Security and Legal with Sean Harrington
- Hands-on Introduction to Network Pentesting with Bradley Ammerman and Tyler Burban (this full day session is currently sold-out, but there is an option to attend the first part—presentation only—of this workshop).
Pre-conference sessions are in addition to regular conference registration and offer smaller attendee sizes and hands-on learning. If you are already registered for Secure360, you will need to update your registration. If not, you can register for these sessions here.
2. Two days of solid keynote presentations
This year, we are kicking off both mornings of the Secure360 Twin Cities conference with fantastic keynote presentations. Brian Krebs, with Krebs’ on Security, will be speaking on Tuesday, May 17, examining some of the biggest drivers of computer crime today, by examining the economic forces that motivate cybercriminals. On Wednesday, May 18, we’ll hear from a panel of national and local experts about what it takes to secure a major event while protecting local communities.

3. Lock picking demo (back by popular demand!)
Want to tinker with locks and tools the likes of which you’ve only seen in movies featuring police, spies, and secret agents? After the conclusion of Deviant Ollam’s speaking presentation, the customary hands-on demo area will be back yet again in the Rotunda Overlook area on May 17 at 2:40 PM, featuring the latest in locks, pick tools, and other penetration tester’s gadgets. Stop by and learn hands-on how the fundamental hardware of physical security operates and how it can be compromised.
4. Tuesday evening happy hour
Because of the success of last year’s happy hour, we are hosting it again—Tuesday evening, May 17 after the first day of sessions. Held on site at the RiverCentre, outside the exhibit hall, this is your chance to network with peers, vendors and recap your day of learning. Bonus: Each paid attendee receives one free complimentary drink ticket.
5. Opportunities for student attendees
The Upper Midwest Security Alliance (UMSA), host of Secure360, will be giving away three Secure360 registrations for 2017. Students can complete the student drawing card (located in the UMSA lounge) and drop it in the designated box. Drawing cards must be completed and in the box by 8:00 AM on Wednesday, May 18, and the drawing will take place in the Keynote Exhibit Hall A Lower Level on Wednesday during the opening session. You must be a student and you must be present to win.
6. Build your professional network through social media
We received feedback from last year’s attendees asking for general information
and training on social media. This session is the answer! The channels of focus will be LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. The last 20 minutes of the session will be dedicated to real-time questions and assistance. This session will be led by Melissa Harrison, CEO at Allee Creative and Secure360 marketing director on Wednesday, May 18 at 3:00 PM in Room 12.
7. Get connected with the mobile app
Don’t forget to download the Secure360 mobile app—created with our attendees in mind, this app is meant to enhance your conference experience. Available for Android or iOS (also available through your web browser). Sync your break-out sessions to your calendar, be notified of room changes, network with other app users, post directly to social media and rate conference speakers all within the app. Visit the information booth in the lounge area for help with your app download or search “Secure360” in your app store.
Secure360 Twin Cities is going to be better than ever and we hope to see you there! If you have not yet registered for the event, there’s still time—sign up today!
