Student360 2019: What’s the big deal?

October 22, 2018 by Secure360 and UMSA

Students and sponsors at Student360 2018

You’ve seen the Facebook posts, the Twitter content, announcements on Instagram and information on LinkedIn. Our team wanted to take a moment to dive a little bit deeper and explain our vision for Student360 and why you should attend the 2019 event.

The vision behind Student360 was to create an event that would be a valid resource for students to learn, grow and be exposed to the many security-related industries and opportunities, as there definitely isn’t a shortage of opportunities out there and students should be made aware. This event is catered to students who are studying and interested in information security, business continuity, risk management and cybersecurity.

Mock interviews | Connect with potential employers

We know what your initial thought might be – “what’s the point of an interview that isn’t even real?” However, we’d respond by saying that a mock interview is just as important as the real thing. Not only does a mock interview encourage you to practice your interviewing skills, but it gives you the opportunity to sit across the table from a potential future employer. You never know, in just a few short years they could be interviewing you for an opening at their organization.

First-time conference experience | You’ll probably attend more in the future

Believe it or not, this most likely will not be your last conference experience! This event will expose you to conference life and what’s in store for you and your professional career. Student360 was designed to prepare students for their future in security as well as guide them through their first conference. Before you know it, you’ll be attending Secure360 Twin Cities.

Build your network | Connect with peers, speakers and industry professionals

Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase, it’s not what you know but who you know – and we couldn’t agree more! This event gives you a great opportunity to expand your network in more ways than one. Connect with your peers as well as students from other schools, you never know how these connections could help you down the road. In addition to this, you’ll have many opportunities to pick the brains of speakers and industry professionals throughout the entire day at the event – take advantage of that opportunity.

Hear from industry professionals | Expand your knowledge of security

This goes hand in hand with building your network. Throughout the course of the day you’ll be able to craft your own schedule and attend sessions that fit your interests. During breaks and designated networking times, sponsors will be available to chat about their companies and provide you with a wealth of knowledge in regard to security.

So, now you know what the big deal is all about when it comes to Student360, we hope you’ll join us at our third student event on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 3M Corporate Headquarters in Maplewood, MN. To get $10 off your student registration, contact Sophia Attema for your school’s unique discount code. See you in February!
