Legal and regulatory risks are quickly becoming major, if not dominant information security concerns. As more major breaches occur, state and federal lawmakers are responding with a complex web of obligations to protect data and react when breaches occur. Regulators and plaintiffs lawyers launch investigations and lawsuits following any hint of a data breach. Meanwhile, global data protection regulations are a minefield of risk for projects ranging from HR consolidations to data loss prevention.
This session is designed to provide non-legal professionals with an overview of legal and regulatory risks common to companies of all sizes, highlighting the growing impact of legal risk and the importance of building effective working relationships with counsel. Each topic will include hands-on exercises designed to help non-legal professionals identify and communicate issues to counsel and resolve them effectively.
