Social Media Governance: Uncharted Territory

View presentation slides.

It seems that every day a new Social Media Channel is born and in turn there become many new ways in which we personally and professionally interact on these public forums. With such frequent change, shouldn’t we have better awareness and measures in place to protect ourselves and even the companies we work for?

Chime, in comes Social Media Governance. It is an evolving area that needs extra attention and will likely soon be on your company’s IT Audit road map or even a to-do on your code developer’s integration checklist. For now, raising awareness in this space dominated by SaaS solution giants like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the like, we need to better understand what risks we take on personally and also how enterprises need to take action to ensure the security of these common forums where we interact with our customers.

Key content takeaways from this presentation include – Open Source Intelligence (OSI) Gathering, Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR), Metadata & Geotagging, and lastly Enterprise Governance.

Key learning points:

  • Content Based Image Retreval and Geotagging
  • Securing Social Media Channels for an Enterprise
